The 50 Reefs study identified not only a portfolio of 50 reefs to help with targeting conservation efforts, it also identified 20 additional sites that could be ideal for targeting conservation action.
50 Reefs has resulted in the first-ever research of its kind. The scientific study, “Risk-sensitive planning for conserving coral reefs under rapid climate change” was published in June 2018 in Conservation Letters.
The 50 Reefs Initiative was developed by The Ocean Agency in partnership with the Global Change Institute at The University of Queensland and the Wildlife Conservation Society, and initially funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, The Tiffany & Co. Foundation and Paul G. Allen Family Foundation.
Your donation will go towards our ongoing coral reef conservation work and campaigning for greater marine protection.
